Cadaqués, a charming coastal town in northeastern Spain, is famous for its stunning beauty and its artistic history. Nestled along the rugged Costa Brava, it has inspired many artists, including the renowned surrealist painter Salvador Dalí, who spent much of his life in nearby Port Lligat. The town’s whitewashed houses, narrow cobbled streets, and sparkling Mediterranean waters create a picturesque atmosphere.

Cadaqués has maintained much of its traditional fishing village charm, avoiding heavy commercialization, and its remote location once made it difficult to reach, preserving its peaceful ambiance. Today, it's a haven for artists, writers, and travelers seeking inspiration.

You can even visit Dalí’s former home, which has been transformed into a museum! I went there to see what I think is the coolest house in the world, and afterwards, I went back into Cadaqués to have some lunch and to attempt a sketch of Dalí's statue that's in the center part of the town, right on the water.

Nailed it!

The etching for this journal is a carbon-transfer of the same sketch I did in my journal when I was standing there.  I love love LOVED trying to channel Dalí's energy and talent into this sketch.  You see, I struggle with realism, and even though Dalí was a SURREALIST, he could still draw anatomically-correct figures!

Still working on sketching realism, but for now, I'm enjoying embracing what I'm really good at...and one of those talents is making books!
